Always prepared to take a matter to trial but never shutting the door on alternative resolutions when suitable or favorable for his clients, Ryan Adams is a strong courtroom advocate entrusted with the most consequential, complex, and seemingly intractable disputes.
Ryan has focused on civil and commercial litigation since he began practicing law almost a quarter-century ago. Over the years, he has amassed an impressive record of positive results in a wide range of matters, earning the gratitude and trust of his clients and the respect of his adversaries. Whether in state or federal courts, at the trial or appellate levels, or in alternative dispute resolution forums, Ryan brings his relentless work ethic, integrity, and personal commitment to every client and every case.
Thriving in the courtroom and leading a team of equally talented litigators, Ryan handles cases that extend across a broad spectrum of disputes. He has experience with all ranges of commercial conflicts, including breach of contract, ownership and shareholder disputes, and business torts. Ryan is equally well-versed in construction and real estate litigation, representing owners, developers, buyers and sellers, general contractors and subcontractors, and other parties. His practice also includes work on estate and trust disputes, where he has successfully resolved a variety of contentious matters.
Ryan understands that for many of his clients, litigation is an unfamiliar and stressful experience. He takes the time to guide each client through the process, telling them what to expect and explaining their options and the risks involved. Ryan works closely with his clients to develop the strategy best suited to accomplishing their objectives and protecting their interests.
Though Ryan represents clients in every corner of North Carolina, his local roots run deep. Born and raised in Angier, he graduated from Duke University before earning his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law. He joined Adams Howell in 2016 after practicing in Raleigh for 15 years, including at a firm he founded.
