Combining personal attention and professional excellence, Andy works with individuals and companies to develop and implement sophisticated, comprehensive estate and business planning strategies for preserving wealth, protecting assets, minimizing tax liabilities, and ensuring stability and continuity in times of transition.
Andy advises high-net-worth individuals as well as young families and those with more modest asset portfolios on a broad spectrum of complex tax and estate planning issues, including the preparation of tailored wills, revocable trusts, and powers of attorney. For more complex needs, he can prepare asset protection trusts, special needs trusts, GST trusts, and charitable remainder trusts, and assist in structuring tax efficient plans through other documents and the use of LLCs, corporations, and other entity structures. His practice also includes estate and trust administration and navigating the probate process after the loss of a loved one. Additionally, Andy helps families obtain guardianship and manages the guardian process after a court appointment.
Frequently serving in an outside general counsel capacity, Andy works with closely held business owners to implement seamless and pragmatic business succession plans that provide clarity and direction for passing the baton and allow them to reap the fruits of their life’s labors. His advice and representation extend to all day-to-day and strategic business matters, from entity formation and governance to commercial transactions, employment, and real estate issues.
As a Certified Public Accountant and experienced attorney, Andy merges his sound legal judgment with thorough analysis of the tax and financial implications of various approaches, strategies, or business transactions. These complementary perspectives result in guidance that blends dollars-and-cents objectivity with creative, personalized counsel. While Andy works closely and collaboratively with other advisors and professionals when desired or advantageous, his ability to consider and address nuanced legal and tax issues simultaneously can make for more efficient and cost-effective representation.
Andy’s demonstrable commitment to his clients and their goals can be seen not only in the plans and documents he prepares and the sound guidance he provides, but in the manner in which he creates lasting relationships with the people, family, and businesses who put their trust in him. He understands that his charge is to protect the things that matter most to his clients and to do so with clarity, empathy, and an appreciation of their unique circumstances, concerns, and objectives. By empowering his clients with information and walking them through their options with patience, candor, and a personable demeanor, Andy lays the foundation for enduring, productive relationships that often transcend his planning and business work and evolve into friendships.
